What is a grower-producer ?

François Lecompte is a wine-grower producer in the estate founded by his family in 1876 at Rilly-la-Montagne.

He offers prestigious, natural and fruity Cuvées, reflecting the spirit and authenticity of his house, together with the passion for his job as a wine-grower.

He is thus authorized to write the coveted letters RM (Récoltant-Manipulant) on the label of all his bottles of Premier CRU Champagnes. The secular know-how, the values of authenticity and tradition are totally respected and meet the customers expectations.

As a grower-producer, Francois Lecompte carries out all the work in the vineyard, the vinification (wine-processing), the bottling and the aging of his champagne in the family chalk cellars.

He is respectful of his terroir and his environment.

He harvests his grapes in his own vineyard (harvest in September, grapes harvested by hand) Manual picking remains the tradition in Champagne – the requirement for whole, undamaged grapes is the same today as it was in the 18th Century.

The DNA of François Lecompte Champagne is characterized by organic-oriented vine work, natural wine-making, and traditional champagne processing on the estate.

He markets his various cuvées himself, advises and meets his visitors and customers from all over the world.
